OVERVIEW
Juvederm is
the only hyaluronic acid filler FDA approved to last
up to 1 year. Juvederm is injected into the mid to
deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe
facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial
folds). Dr. Anagnos uses Juvederm to smooth those
'parentheses' lines/creases, on the sides of your
nose and mouth and instantly gives you a more
youthful look. It may cause minor swelling and
bruising that can be covered with makeup.
Dr. Anagnos also uses Juvederm to lessen acne scars,
make lips more full, mitigate stubborn scars, lessen
and smooth vertical lip lines. |
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE
BETWEEN JUVEDERM AND RESTYLANE?
Juvederm contains a higher concentration of
cross-linked hyaluronic acid and is more
concentrated than Restylane. Whether that translates
into a major difference in duration of effect
remains to be seen. At this point, Dr. Rivkin
prefers Juvederm to Restylane for wrinkle correction
and lip enhancement because Juvederm is smoother and
less viscous. There seem to be less bumps and less
pain with Juvederm than with Restylane. Juvederm is
also supposed to last around 9-12 months, as
compared to 6-9 for Restylane.
